Definitions of Human Trafficking Crime: 

  1. Labor trafficking is when a person lacks the freedom to act or make choices and is solicited for labor or services against his or her own will receiving little or no pay. 

  2. Sex trafficking occurs when a trafficker uses force, fraud or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts.

  3. CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) is when a child under 18 is advertised, solicited or exploited through a sex act for profit. For children under the age of 18, force, fraud, or coercion does not need to be proven to be considered sex trafficking. 

  4. “Commercial Sex” is defined as any sex act that is exchanged for/involves: 

    -Money, food, drugs, a play to stay, clothing or other accessories, etc is given to or received by any person. 

    -Photography without consent for the purpose of being advertised online for sex. 

    -Pressure by someone (oftentimes an intimate partner) to have sex with their friends in exchange for money. 

    -Being forced to have sex by threat of someone they love will be harmed.
